EPILOGUE

There were serious advantages to being with this billionaire. The first? He was super appreciative to every failed baking attempt she made. Did her Heaven and Hell parfait cakes look more like a nuclear holocaust? Tanner didn’t care. He ate them and grinned

Did he mind when she asked him to hold her manners because a customer had just been epically rude and she had shit to say?

Nope. He laughed.

Did he take her on ridiculous vacations to places where the water was downright see-through and the sun always seemed to shine? OhmyGod, yes he did.

Vivi lay on a teak lounge, sipped her latest margarita—charred orange—and wondered if it might replace her lemon drop martini.

It seemed likely.

The last few weeks with Tanner had been a blur. There had been more makeup sex, a fair amount of working, some more makeup sex, and now this.

It hadn’t been perfect. She was still a little freaked out over the whole ‘private investigator’ bit and sometimes she wondered if she was the kind of woman who could do In A Relationship.

Or—gulp—Married.

She was married to her job, after all.

But Tanner didn’t seem worried. He gave her all the space she needed, was completely transparent in all his dealings.

And she was trying to be more herself with him.

It seemed like such a small thing, didn’t it? Somehow it wasn’t.

Until Tanner, Vivi hadn’t realized how much she’d done to make herself more agreeable and less opinionated.

“Wait,” her cousin had said when Vivi had told her. “All that before? That was you being agreeable?”

Vivi had grinned. “Yep. Brace yourself. I’m back.”

“Oh, God.” But Mandy had been grinning when she’d said it. Vivi was pretty sure her cousin was already working on a secret Pinterest board of wedding dresses and wedding flowers—she would know not to do wedding cakes.

I’ll do that myself, Vivi thought and then wondered where that thought came from.

Silly really. Every time, she looked at Tanner, she knew.

Beep!

Ugh, she thought. Phone. She rolled over on her chaise lounge, pushing her black sunglasses on top of her head and glaring at Tanner who lay next to her. “I thought you didn’t have service out here.”

“I don’t. It must be you.”

“It’s not.”

“Is.”

“Isn’t.”

Grinning at each other, they checked their phones—and paled. They both had a message. A text from An Indecent Apposal had come through:

Congratulations on not letting your heads interfere with your hearts. This will be so worth it—not always easy, but always worth it.

In the meantime, you have two jobs to complete:

Don’t screw up the gift you’ve been given

Pass an invitation onto someone who deserves it (you’ll know who)
